Dog breeding can be one of those times when you will feel that you are going through an examination yourself. Well choosing to breed your dog can be a big decision from your side and you can feel a little uneasy for the process

The article will take you through some of the breeding tips that will help things go smoothly and will certainly help you enjoy the entire process

One of the first processes in breeding is choosing the right mate for your dog. The mate you choose should be compatible and possess the qualities you want to see carried on in the puppies. Both the female and the male dog should be healthy and have no genetic faults that could jeopardize the health of the puppies in the future.

You also have to make sure that the female dog is very healthy so that her pregnancy and birth of the puppies can be easier. You also have to support the female dog with necessary supplements and nutrition for the healthy birth of the puppy. Good health will give a boost to the female dog to stay strong during the pregnancy

Keeping a good record for both the male and the female dog is important and can increase the breeding success. The genetic record for the female dog is more important. Have the medical history folder for your female dog and record important dates like for example when you first saw the signs of the female dog going into heat, changes in behavior and other medical issues

There are many different kinds of dogs and so it is important to have knowledge of what kind of dog you have. The history of the dog will definitely help you in the breeding process. Some times you could find that your dog is the rarest of the type and in that sense it will be hard to find a compatible dog to mate with.

It is also important to know what ‘family of breeds’ your dog belongs to. Make all the investigations necessary for you to know about your dog and familiarize yourself with that, so that it would be easy for you to know the stature of your dog.

If you have a female dog, the complications are even more and it is even more of a hard work to find out the history belonging to your female dog. This is definitely not impossible, but just needs a bit more effort and work with veterinarian to know exactly what you are doing before breeding your female dog.

Female dogs are usually more of the reasons for the failure in conception, it could be either to do with wrong timing or it could be the hormonal problems and things like that.

There vet always wants to make the owners of the female dogs aware of their physical state. Female dogs usually go into the heath every six months starting at around the age of one year. It is important to let your female dog be fully grown and developed before considering her for mating.

The above basics would help you as the owner of the dog to get the most successful breeding.
